WATCH: Gretchen Fullido explains why her Chihuahua is a low maintenance dog

News anchor Gretchen Fullido considers Chihuahuas as easy-to-maintain pets. She talked about her pet dog’s bathing routine to explain this.

Fullido is grateful that her Chihuahua dog Party loves bathing and that the dog is not fussy and choosy when it is time to take a bath.

“I don’t usually bring her to the groomers because she’s very low maintenance,” she said via her Instagram page last Friday, Sept. 2, where she also showed a video of Party while bathing.

Fullido said that Party uses hypoallergenic shampoo and conditioner, a must since the dog is a Chihuahua with thick hair which needs to be conditioned, to keep the hair “soft, smooth and shiny.”

Party also loves to towel-dry herself by rubbing her entire body and face on the towel.

“I enjoy watching her do that actually,” Fullido said.

The next step is to blow dry her pet’s hair by using low to medium heat, depending on the need. If the weather is cold, more heat is needed when drying.

Fullido then brushed her dog’s hair and and removed all excess hair to allow more hair growth.

“Having small dogs with thick hair is very low maintenance once you get them to a routine and when you teach them to enjoy this sometimes tedious chore for some,” she said. JB
