Trending Cafe Alert: Blackfish Coffee Bar Boracay

Inside Blackfish Coffee Bar, located in Boracay, sit some of the best coffee offerings on the island. My recent experience on their grounds was enjoyable– scouring through their menu, gazing at their calming interiors, and devouring delicious baked goods that I will definitely be coming back for.

The cafe interiors are beautifully put together, screaming a modern aesthetic with, according to them, their best experiences coming from “people appreciating drinks they curated with an exchange of laughs and stories of people who visit the cafe.

Along with their numerous delicious options, their staff was very accommodating and had a great understanding of every item on the menu. They also vend a collection of merchandise including Blackfish tees and water bottles with an addition to their coffee blend to-go.

The concept of the cafe comes from the owners, two flight attendants that came up with the idea when they were visiting the island [Boracay] a while back. Having previously opened their first cafe in Pampanga, they were inspired to create another concept cafe on the island of Boracay, and Blackfish opened its doors on December 20 last year.

We speak with the restaurateur and owner at Blackfish about their island-inspired menu, the design of their space, and their advice to budding entrepreneurs.

What was your inspiration for opening Blackfish?

Our inspiration for opening Blackfish was to introduce specialty coffee on the island and at the same time, tourists would appreciate coffee with a relaxing view of the beach.

How did you curate the menu?

Drinks are refreshing and unique, really suiting the life of the island. Most of the drinks are infused with tropical fruits which gives tourists a full experience of the island vibe.

What is your favourite food and drink on the menu?

We really poured our hearts into conceptualising these as our signature drinks.

What made you decide on that aesthetic for your cafe’s interiors?

We wanted to give a modern touch to the island aside from the usual nipa and tiki bar style.  Our inspiration is the sunrise and sunset on the island which everyone loves.

What advice would you give to blooming entrepreneurs who want to open a cafe?

Advice for blooming entrepreneurs is to follow your heart and [not] be afraid to turn your ideas into reality. Believe in yourself!
