Nico Antonio proud of his LGBTQ projects

Actor-singer Nico Antonio is proud of his inclusion in any LGBTQ project, more so of his latest assignment in “Love Bites.”

“Matagal ko na siyang ginagawa na maging part ng LGBTQ (projects) since 2009. I can say na proud ako na ginagawa ko siya kasi nakaka-inspire siya ng mga taong walang voice lalo na sa… gamitin natin ang salitang laylayan. ‘Yun bang nai-inspire sila na kahit nandito ako sa katayuan ko, nami-mirror ‘yung buhay ko sa kanila,” he said during the virtual mediacon for the series last Sept. 4.

(I have been doing LGBTQ projects since 2009. I can say that I am proud of doing them because it inspires people who don’t have a voice, especially the marginalized. They can see that no matter what your position in life is, their life is mirrored in my roles.)

Antonio is engaged in a love triangle with Sky Quizon and Genesis Redido in an episode of “Love Bites.”

“Hindi na ako mahihiya. Wala na ‘yung word na coming out. It’s normal. Parang kapag nakita ng tatay at nanay mo na you’re gay, it is okay because love is love,” he added. (I am no longer shy. There’s no such thing as coming out anymore. It’s normal. It’s like when your father and mother see you as gay, it is okay because love is love.)

He also gave his thoughts about love, how it can start happily with everything looking bright, because you are having new experiences with another person. But he thinks there will come a time that the relationship will turn sour.

“It will come to a phase na parang magkakaroon kayo ng misunderstanding. Tapos nagkakaroon ng ibang hilig tapos hindi kayo nagkikita eye to eye,” he said. “Doon sa part na ‘yun dumidilim. Pero it doesn’t necessarily mean you keep it dim. Dapat ilawan mo ulit.”

“Love Bites,” also produced by RCD Narratives, streams every Friday at 8 p.m. on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel as part of its “Made for YouTube” offerings. JB
