It’s not everyday that stories about the LGBTQ community are given the spotlight, which was why Angela Trajano is happy to be cast in a love story between a transgender and a guy.
“Actually, for me, it was very, very flattering and at the same time it feels surreal kasi (because) as a transgender it is really rare to be seen acting and do shows. So, para sa akin, sobrang napaka-meaningful nito (So, for me, this is very meaningful) as I was being given a chance by (director) Dado (Lumibao),” Trajano said at the virtual press conference for the series, last Sept. 4.
Trajano, not wanting to waste the opportunity, gave her best in the series.
“Ibinigay ko ‘yung buong-buo ako, sobrang authentic, sobrang transparent, sobrang genuine ko,” she said. (I gave my all. I have been so authentic, so transparent, so genuine.)
She was also able to relate to her role as a transgender character who joins beauty pageants, loved a guy and was hurt. For Trajano, the series is an eye-opener for people like her.
“Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na mahalin. Sa atin po kasi, sa mga transgender, when love comes, we give everything. Sobrang napaka-selfless natin. There are times na nakakalimutan na natin ‘yung sarili natin,” she said.
(It’s a great feeling to be loved. Among us, with transgenders, when love comes, we give everything. We are so selfless. There are times we already forget ourselves.)
In the episode titled “Hearts of Pride,” Trajano’s character fell in love with Kristoff Garcia’s character.
“Love is boundless,” Trajano declared. “Love is very genuine and love knows no gender. We (transgenders) are also human. We could love and we could be someone who’s worth fighting for.” JB
