Rex Orange County faces court as he is charged with six counts of sexual assault

Alexander O’Connor or better known as Rex Orange County is set to face trial on January 3, 2023, for six counts of sexual assault in the U.K. According to The Sun, the “Loving is Easy” singer allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old woman twice in the West End on June 1. He assaulted her four more additional times the next day: once in a taxi and three other times in his Notting Hill home. The internationally acclaimed artist is a 24-year-old. Just this Monday, October 10, O’Connor appeared at the Southwark Crown Court in London and denied the allegations.

According to The Guardian “Alex is shocked by the allegations, which he denies, and looks forward to clearing his name in court,” a representative for the musician said in a statement released to press. “He is unable to make any further comment because of the ongoing proceedings.”

Prevented by the criminal proceedings to travel internationally, O’Connor faces difficulty in continuing his music tour. In July this year, he announced via Twitter that his August 13 performance in Gunnersbury Park in London would be his last for the year, effectively canceling scheduled appearances in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. He goes on to explain the reason behind the cancelations saying, “I am having to spend some time at home this year and I will not be able to continue with touring as planned.” Some were quick to point out how the singer-songwriter brushed under the rug the real reason behind these decisions. “Why not be straight up w ur listeners my guy” one of his fans replies.
