Actress Winwyn Marquez feels that her lucky charm is her daughter Luna, who she credits for various auspicious turns in her career.
Marquez recently won Best Actress in a Feature Film for the movie “Nelia” during the 12th International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM). The award’s night was held last October 13 at the Kalayaan Hall, Philippine Center, 556 5th Ave., in New York City.
“Lucky charm ko ang anak ko, si Luna talaga kasi ‘yung ‘Nelia’, noon in-announce na buntis ako noon, eh. I was six months pregnant and ‘yung daughter ko will turn six months already. Tapos ‘yung best actress award came. Tapos pagkapanganak ko, ang una kong movie is with Nora Aunor. So, feeling ko, siya talaga ‘yung lucky charm,” Marquez said Saturday during the victory party held at AQ Prime office in Quezon City. (My lucky charm is my daughter Luna because my nomination for “Nelia” was announced that I was pregnant then. Then the best actress award came. After giving birth, my first movie was with Nora Aunor. So, I felt she was my lucky charm.)
Marquez said the same thing in her Instagram post.
Incidentally, the movie with Aunor was something that Marquez did not foresee, but she was more than glad to have the Superstar slap her in one scenes in the movie.
“Masakit pero papayag ako na i-backhand niya ako. Parang ayoko nang hugasan (ang mukha ko). Nora Aunor, nasampal ka, national artist. Okay lang ako kahit makasampung take tayo dito,” she said. (It’s painful but I will allow her to backhand me. I almost didn’t want to wash (my face). Nora Aunor slapped me, the national artist. It’s okay even if we have ten takes here.)
Marquez recalled that Aunor did not want to do that slapping scene. The director then asked her if it’s okay for her to be slapped by the Superstar.
“Sabi ko, go. Kahit ilang beses pa po ay okay lang sa akin kasi si Ms. Nora ‘yan. Kung mapapaganda ang eksena, why not?” she recalled. (I said, go. Even how many times it is okay because that’s Nora Aunor. If the scene will become more beautiful, why not?) EDV
