Actress and triathlete Bubble Paraiso proved once again that she’s more than physically fit to win a sports competition after she placed first during a triathlon competition held at Subic Bay.
Paraiso proudly shared photos taken during the competition on her Instagram page today, October 23.
“All I wanted was to finish with a smile, I took the pressure off myself and told myself it’s ok if I don’t podium this race because I am still recovering and can’t quite push just yet,” she said in the post.
It was, for her, a physical journey replete with tests on her stamina as “regulated my HR the entire time (stopped 3x in the swim when it spiked), lost my hydration on the bike and had so much fun seeing everyone on the run.”
“Not gonna lie- when I went out on the run and they told me I was gunning for third place overall I was shocked. And I apparently held on to that position til the end,” she said.
“This race reminded me how much I love this sport. And my first place finish was the icing on the cake. I am so grateful,” she added.
Last May, Paraiso recalled how someone discouraged her from entering the world of sports.
“Someone once said to me: ‘you can’t become a triathlete. You don’t even know how to swim and you hate running. You cried when I made you run,’” she recalled in a post she made last May 2 on Instagram, without mentioning the name of the person who tried to dissuade her.
“When someone tells you that you can’t do something, do it well, prove them wrong, and take pictures. Lots of it,” she added, beliving that “with enough hard work, tenacity and mental fortitude you will exceed even your own limits and expectations of yourself.” EDV
