We are all familiar with the typical Halloween celebration, the costumes, the candies, and the trick-or-treating. However, across various cultures around the world, the holiday is observed differently. In Italy for example, the Ognissanti festival involves decorating cemeteries with fall chrysanthemums and leaving out gifts for children as if they came from their deceased relatives. If you’re familiar with the Disney movie Coco, Día de Muertos in Mexico includes preparing a feast with the departed’s favorite dishes, wearing skull masks, and eating skull-shaped treats. Regardless of how each culture commemorates the occasion, a unifying theme connecting these otherwise periods of mourning is how these are all ironically celebrations of life, but in memory and in respect of those who are not with us anymore.
A celebration is not complete without your favorite bottle of PATRÓN to liven up the atmosphere. But honestly, who wants plain old tequila, we’re not interested in leaving it at just that. PATRÓN celebrates Día de Muertos
Just this October 24, PATRÓN invited guests at La Vie en Rose to take part in their yearly celebration of Dia de Muertos. The holiday is typically observed every November 2 where according to ancient beliefs, the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead is lifted and families can gather to welcome back the souls of their ancestors. The day is spent in jubilation where people would remember the deceased through food, drinks, and colorful skulls. In honor of their Mexican heritage, PATRÓN welcomed those who attended to paint their own skulls with their own unique designs as a way of bringing the otherwise foreign culture closer to us. Aside from serving Mexican cuisine, they also showcased the Paloma Patrónic and the Patrón Margarita.
