Competition is not at all about winning all the time. This seemed to be the lesson that sportsman and former ace basketball player Doug Kramer wanted to impart to his daughter Scarlett.
In an Instagram post, Kramer posted a picture of his and wife Cheska Garcia-Kramer’s soon to be turning 11-year-old daughter, who had just joined her first taekwondo competition last month.
Scarlett won silver in that competition, but this did not stop her parents from being mighty proud of her achievement.
“It’s not always a win. It’s not always a highlight,” he said. “Always remember, sometimes, a loss can bring the biggest lesson.”
Kramer told her second-born that she has “to dig deep and remember these low moments and use it to propel you further up.”
“Let it motivate you to become better… to not experience the pain and frustration again,” he advised, as he further cited a quote which stated: “A winner is a dreamer who never gives up.”
He likewise reminded Scarlett that no matter if she lost or won, her family still loves her and would be there to support her.
“Papa and Mama are always proud of you @scarlettkramer! You’re Papa’s Warrior Princess! Your pain is my pain, too, baby. I’ll do my best to help you even more baby doll,” he said. “Win or Learn! On to the next one!” EDV
