The second season of the HBO anthology series just ended and we honestly can’t get enough of it—we want more! Teasing our obsessed hearts, the show’s creator Mike White may have given a couple of hints concerning its confirmed next iteration, particularly its next destination.
White shared, “The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex. I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
Further hinting at a location in Asia, he also mentions “I think it’d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent. You know, we did Europe, maybe Asia, or something crazy like that. That would be fun.” While narrowing it down, there are still definitely a lot of countries to choose from that tick all the boxes on death, religion, and spirituality that White is looking for. However, as the first two seasons had already shown us, regardless of where the following season will take us, it’s guaranteed to be another heck of a ride.
The first season took us to lovely Hawaii and eventually moved to Europe to a luxury resort in Sicily for its follow-up. The third season will probably take a while before finally being released as White has hinted at taking a short break following the show’s recent conclusion. “I don’t have a lot of gas in the tank. So I need to figure out how to unplug and refresh or something” he shares. We’re definitely going to be waiting.
