Here’s how Lazada is empowering women entrepreneurs to transform their passions into booming businesses

Doing business has never been easier! eCommerce platforms like Lazada made it convenient for MSMEs to market to a wider audience, and just as importantly, it has opened doors for people, including women.Through Lazada’s seller tools, LazAffiliates, and fast and free shipping, these women entrepreneurs are able to engage with their followers and equip their loyal customers with trendy and affordable products in no time!

Here are some of the most successful women who made a name for themselves by building their own businesses and growing these into brands that they are today.

Clocheflame

Started by Arriane Amante in 2020, Clocheflame is a homegrown sustainable beauty brand. The brand name is a portmanteau, coined from the word “cloche”(bell-shaped cover) and the founder’s surname (Amante means “lover” in Spanish, from which amor “love” is derived from, with flame being its representation).

“I always knew I wanted to start a beauty brand. At that time, I’d buy foreign brands as I felt like there was no local brand that resonated with me–that really inspired me to create my own, “ Amante said, who built Clocheflame when she was 23.

Clocheflame taps into local manufacturers as a small way of extending help to boost local economy. It also strives for sustainability by having less plastic usage/consumption, small batch orders (to avoid raw material waste), and recyclable packaging.

For Amante, the decision to partner with Lazada was a no-brainer. “We knew that Lazada was a vital tool for us to grow our business and reach a wider market. And this has been proven true, after almost 2 years of partnership,” Amante said.

“Lazada is also very generous in extending help and offering extra mileages to small businesses like ours, especially when it comes to getting more exposure. The platform really recognized us as a legitimate brand, and that’s something we’re truly thankful for,” Amante added.

Asked for advice for budding women entrepreneurs, Amante reiterated her personal ethos as a guiding philosophy in her business: “Know your why, stay true to your identity, and protect that spark. The one thing that will differentiate you from others is your story and your purpose–own that.”

Tala by Kyla

Tala by Kyla is a jewelry brand helmed by 22-year-old Kyla Cañete, who started the business when she was 18. The brand name comes from the Filipino word for “star.”

“It started just for fun. I’ve always liked selling chokers, hair clips, and cute trinkets in high school. I’ve always looked up to my mom who was already in the business (selling bags and accessories), so in a way, it also became my dream,” Cañete said.

Working in a highly saturated market, the brand distinguishes itself by allowing customers to “tell their story.” She noted: “What sets us apart from other businesses is the thought and the story behind our pieces. Each collection is made with inspiration and is produced to help our customers tell their own stories. Hence, our tag line Wear Your Story.”

Tala by Kyla started as one-woman team. When the demand started pouring in, its founder decided to partner with Lazada.

“Lazada felt like an oasis for me. It makes market research a piece of cake for me. It’s perfect because you can easily see what people want, while also riding the wave of trends. They also offer seller support, promotional tools, and campaigns which we can join to widen our visibility and reach” she said, commenting on the platform’s superb analytics and promo tools for business owners.

Cañete believed in Lazada’s commitment to business owners. “It’s convenient because when they tell you that you’re partners, they mean it. They make things possible for us.”

GRWM Cosmetics

GRWM Cosmetics is the brain child of YouTube content creator/makeup artist Mae Layug. The cosmetic brand started during the pandemic.

“As we started during pandemic, we decided to sell online to avoid paying rents and huge commission fees. And one of the biggest online selling platforms that we know is Lazada. So, we signed up and started selling in LazMall,” Layug said.

Listening to what consumers want is the way for the brand to connect and reinvent itself.

“What sets GRWM apart we really listen to consumers. We take note every comment and suggestion to improve our products and services. We value inclusivity as seen in our campaigns,” Layug added.

As the biggest online selling platform in Asia, Lazada helped GRWM reached more consumers than ever.

“Through its continuous deals and promotions, Lazada helped us reach a network of consumers that doesn’t previously know GRWM Cosmetics. Spreading brand awareness is easy,” Layug said.
