Raul Isidro’s ‘Senakulo’ to open at Crucible | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

For those who want to cap their post-Lenten reflection with experimental prints of art items with religious theme, the solo art exhibit not to be missed is the opening of Raul Isidro’s new exhibit “Senakulo” at Crucible starting Tuesday.

Isidro said his “Senakulo” series is a recollection of boyhood experiences during summer vacations in Baliwag, Bulacan, and the hometown of his father Daniel Lajom Isidro Sr.

Through the years, the traditional observance of Holy Week in Bulacan lingered in his memories that he immediately started working with the theme two years ago and finished his collection in 2010.

This year he found the appropriate time to unveil his collection which consists of 16 limited-edition prints featuring the procession of “Kristo,” the penitents and the “Manangs.”

His “Sagrada Familia” series in this exhibit came about upon his return from a Unesco-sponsored art camp in Barcelona, Spain, in 2010 when he started to work on mixed-media paintings on canvas inspired by the many historical and religious places he visited in Europe. He was particularly enchanted by the famous church by Antoni Gaudi, the Sagrada Familia.

The 20-piece collection of Isidro’s mixed-media works called “Sagrada Familia” is a recollection of his impressions of the magnificently designed church, illustrating the peaceful reflection of colors from the stained glass and the grandeur of Gaudi’s architecture.

Isidro’s exhibit will run until April 29 at Crucible Gallery, Megamall Bldg. A, Mandaluyong City.
