Glam and glory at the Golden Globes

Dolly de Leon in Norman de Vera

Bare midriffs, gothic-inspired looks and sparkles and ruffles aplenty were the order of the day, as the Golden Globes returned Tuesday for its 80th edition.

Actress Dolly de Leon, who made history by becoming the first Filipino to be nominated, chose an all-black corset number with opera gloves for her Golden Globes debut. The bespoke faux leather dress was by Norman de Vera of AZ Factory.

De Leon lost out on the acting plum to Angela Bassett, who dazzled in a slinky sequined silver dress by Pamella Roland.

Espousing the torso-baring trend dominating the high street, young actresses Jenna Ortega, Anya-Taylor Joy and Lily James all flashed their midriffs in their couture gowns by Gucci, Dior and Atelier Versace, respectively.

Selena Gomez in Valentino

Rihanna, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jennifer Coolidge, Selena Gomez and Emma d’Arcy all wore black, as Michelle Williams and Julia Garner went for ruffled pastels.
