Here’s Your First Look At Marisa Abela As Amy Winehouse In The Upcoming Biopic ‘Back to Black’

Looking as good as the day we lost her, we’ve been given the first look at Marisa Abela as Amy Winehouse in the upcoming biopic ‘Back to Black’. The latest in the line of films of the same genre, coming after the likes of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ ‘Rocketman,’ and ‘Elvis,’ ‘Back to Black’ is sure to provide us with the never-before-seen story of the Grammy-winning icon—we will be privy to the narrative behind her roots, her rise to fame, her struggles, and likely her untimely passing.

Abela who will be playing the beloved artist is known for her appearance on HBO’s ‘Industry,’ Sky TV’s ‘COBRA,’ and the crime thriller ‘Rogue Agent.’

This will not be the first time we will be seeing her story on the screen; 2015’s Amy, 2018’s Amy Winehouse: Back to Black, and 2021’s Reclaiming Amy. 

Studiocanal, Focus Features, and Monumental Pictures will be taking charge of the music drama. Sam Taylor-Johnson, known for leading the creation of “50 Shades of Gray” and “Nowhere Boy,” is directing the biopic. It’s written by Matt Greenhalgh, who last worked with Taylor-Johnson on the script for “Nowhere Boy,” which was about the childhood of John Lennon.
