Hong Kong Is Taking Massive Steps for the Resurgence of Its Tourism

A warm welcome unlike any other, Hong Kong, Asia’s global city, is opening its doors to the rest of the world and is taking massive steps for the resurgence of its tourism through the ‘World of Winners’ and ‘Hong Kong Goodies’ giveaways, both initiatives under the ‘Hello Hong Kong’ campaign.

This comes after they formally opened its borders for tourist travel, free of any quarantine, isolation, and vaccination requirements—it’s a far cry compared to the region’s harsh virus containment measures at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—at one point, incoming travelers were required to spend 21 days in a hotel room paid at their own expense.

Now with newfound hope and rejuvenated spirits, Hong Kong will be placing all its efforts into reclaiming its status as one of the premier tourist destinations in Asia, and the world as a whole—they’re only getting started.

World of Winners

Touted as the “biggest welcome to the world”, the campaign looks to give away around 500,000 free air tickets to travelers residing in main markets to stimulate air traffic, particularly inbound travel to Hong Kong, and promote the recovery of their aviation industry, tourism, and economy. The majority of them will be distributed in phases by three home-based airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Hong Kong Express, and Hong Kong Airlines

How to participate?

You can visit the website of the Hong Kong International Airport and access the participating airlines’ pages to register your participation. Be wary of the giveaway dates for your particular region to ensure a smooth joining process.

The ticket will be given away through different activities such as a lucky draw, first-come-first-served, or ‘Buy 1 or more – Get 1 Free’, as arranged by the participating airlines depending on their plan and local regulations. Further details will be provided by the respective airlines on their websites when launching the ticket giveaway activities.

Timeline of the giveaway.

Southeast Asia (for inbound) – 1 March onwards

Mainland China (for inbound) – April onwards

Northeast Asia (for inbound) – May onwards

Hong Kong (for outbound) – July onwards

Other markets (for inbound) – May onwards
