During the Tudum Global Fan Event in Brazil, Netflix unveiled exclusive information plus a first look at the highly popular South Korean thriller series “Squid Game” and its upcoming second season.

The teaser showed the cast lineup was announced, featuring a mix of returning and fresh faces. Lee Jung-jae, who portrays the financially struggling Seong Gi-hun, will reprise his role in the highly anticipated second installment. Joining him will be Lee Byung-hun, who will once again portray the enigmatic “Front Man,” and Wi Ha-jun, returning as the determined police officer embroiled in the dangerous world of brutal competition as he searches for his missing brother.

Joining the acclaimed series that made its debut in 2021 and garnered six Primetime Emmys are new additions to the cast: Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun.

While the participation of Oh Yeong-su, the remarkable actor who portrayed the elderly and seemingly ordinary Oh Il-nam in the initial season of “Squid Game,” remains uncertain as a returning cast member, it was revealed at the conclusion of the first season that his involvement in the game had a deeper complexity.

According to reports, production for the second season of Squid Game is scheduled to commence in July. They say that the upcoming season will showcase 456 participants engaging in deadly challenges, vying for a substantial prize of $4.56 million. Although the lethal games from the initial season may not be present, the show is anticipated to uphold its gripping and intense essence. Netflix has officially announced that Squid Game: The Challenge will debut in November of this year.

A release date for Season 2 of “Squid Game”  is yet to be announced.
