The Norwegian Constitution Day was celebrated in Manila last May 16 at the Grand Hyatt BGC with great enthusiasm and camaraderie.
As the second oldest written constitution in the world, it serves as the foundation for Norway’s open, democratic and fair society, values shared with the Philippines. This year’s celebration was especially significant as it marked the 75th anniversary of bilateral ties between the two nations. The relationship between Norway and the Philippines has evolved over the years, extending beyond the maritime sector to include areas such as development, peace and reconciliation, business and trade. Notable milestones, including Norway’s role as a facilitator in peace talks, the creation of the Philippines Norway Business Council and collaborative efforts in human rights promotion have strengthened the bond between the two countries.
Looking ahead, both nations are committed to further cooperation, exploring new avenues of collaboration in areas such as offshore wind, maritime technology and aquaculture.
