Sharon Cuneta has been advised by her physicians to rest her voice after a presumed bacterial infection that resulted in clogged nasal passages and a swollen throat.

The Megastar revealed on Instagram that she had to undergo nasal endoscopy as part of her treatment, during which a long instrument called an endoscope is inserted through the nasal cavity to examine the sinus passages.

“Went to my doctor in St. Luke’s BGC yesterday. She inserted a camera into my nose and mouth. Sobrang clogged daw ang ilong ko (My nose was so clogged) and my throat is so swollen and papunta nang infection kaya ang dami kong gamot ngayon (It could have resulted in an infection, that is why I have so many medicines today),” she captioned her post.

Her doctors informed her that she may have become accustomed to the condition and let it pass, without realizing that it could develop into a more serious condition.

“Nasanay na lang daw ako sa feeling ng barado ang ilong at masama ang lagay ng throat kaya di ko na nare-realize pag ganon. Haaaay…Kasi init/ulan lagi sa shooting naming,” she said. (I may have gotten used to having blocked nose and a bad throat, so I no longer recognize the symptoms. It must have been because of the intermittent weather during our shooting).

She recalled that before her guesting at the premier episode of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon’s E.A.T. on TV5, she was already feeling that her throat was acting up.

“Kaya pala wala akong boses sa E.A.T nung ni-request doon na kantahin ko bigla ang part ng “Bituing Walang Ningning…” Dapat pala hiningi ko magbalot ng boses!” she said in jest. (That was why I didn’t have voice when they asked me to sing “Bituing Walang Ningning” on EAT. I should have asked to have my voice wrapped).

Cuneta further said that her condition may have been exacerbated by stress, that’s why she had to miss some shooting days of her movie with Alden Richards, “A Mother and Son’s Story.”

“Kaya isang malaking “tenk yu” sa mga nagbibigay sa akin ng stress pinasa-Dios ko na kayo! May acid reflux pa ako susmaryosep,” she said. (So, a big thank you to those who gave me stress. I just let God take care of you. I also have acid reflux, my God).

The movie, which also stars Cuneta’s friend Jackie Lous Blanco, is directed by Nuel Naval, and which has been one of the first four entries confirmed for the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). EDV
