Chie Filomeno on body shamers: ‘I’m healthy inside and out’

Body-shaming knows no bounds and actress Chie Filomeno learned this the hard way as she was always getting bashed for her looks, especially for her thin body.

“I’m like those petite girls na sinasabihan na ‘kumain ka nga, kumakain ka ba?’” Filomeno revealed in an interview with the support cast of “A Very Good Girl,” Sunday, September 24.

In the movie “A Very Good Girl” starring Kathry Bernardo and Dolly de Leon, Filomeno plays Zab, a tactless girl and girl toy at the same time who gets what’s she wants.

During the mediacon for the promotion of their movie, Filomeno said she refused to be bothered by tactless comments about her weight, as she believes that she’s okay “as long as you know you’re healthy inside and out.”

The actress also admitted that she’s not all saccharine goodness to her fans and bashers, explaining that “we all have bad days.” “We get hurt. We’re just human. We get hurt, we cry and then we laugh,” she said.

And when she’s gotten up the wrong side of the bed, her bashers can rest assured that she will give a resounding clapback.

“Sumasagot ako. Patatahimikin kita in a way na pa-pilosopo din sa mga haters, sa mga bashers. Matatapang lang sila sa likod ng kanilang mga keypads. I don’t want to give them that power na kaya nila akong ganunin,” she explained. (I answer. I will shut you in a way that is philosophical to the haters, the bashers. They’re only brave behind their keypads. I don’t want to give them the power to belittle me).

Filomeno was also being accused of “not embracing” her Filipina beauty after she admitted in the past that she underwent rhinoplasty to improve her looks. She would retort to her bashers that it’s her money she’s spending for her beauty procedures.

However, she admitted that her weakness is her family, and that it pains her whenever her bashers target her family just to criticize her. For her, other people’s opinion against her do not matter if she doesn’t know them personally. What matters to her is the opinion of those closest to her.

Filomeno is currently dating “The Iron Heart” actor Jake Cuenca, earlier claimed that she is his TOTGA, or “the one that got away.” EDV
