Tales of Future Past: The Red Charity Gala Makes Its Return Featuring Ivarluski Aseron

After a three-year hiatus, the Red Charity Gala is making its return featuring the work and career of fashion designer Ivarluski Aseron

What defines a lasting legacy? Perhaps it’s a storied life passed on by word of mouth from generation to generation, or maybe it could be by means of creations – objects crafted to stand the test of time.

For fashion designer Ivarluski Aseron, it’s a combination of both.

“The past is essential to the present and the future.” notes Aseron as he prepares for the Red Charity Gala. Launched in 2009 by Tessa Prieto and Kaye Tinga, the esteemed event created to benefit the Philippine Red Cross is finally making its post-pandemic return. The gala will grace the halls of The Peninsula Manila on October 8.

Since its inception, the Red Charity Gala has celebrated the creativity and ingenuity of Filipino talents. Previously featuring designers such as Rajo Laurel, Joey Samson, Chito Vijandre, and Lesley Mobo – this year’s spotlight shines on Ivarluski Aseron. With his collection, Aseron hopes to breathe life into his vision of creating “a bridge linking my past designs and techniques with the new techniques I explored and developed over the years.”

Known for his structured, minimal, and experimental style, Aseron pays homage to Philippine culture with his contemporary takes on the Filipiniana incorporating the basket weaving technique typical of the banig

For the 2023 Red Charity Gala, Aseron’s collection will center on the theme “A Memoir in Motion”. It will showcase his personal approach to storytelling and self-expression, hoping to convey his past work, experiences and moments of joy as he reflects on his journey as a designer.
