Blanco Castelar and Mexico City’s premier gastronomic experience

A taste of Mexico and beyond: Blanco Castelar

Traveling is one of my favorite things in life. Away from what I’m familiar with, I’m awarded the rare opportunity to rejuvenate and unwind, free of any stressful and unwanted thoughts. Immersing myself in a foreign culture is a plus too, and what better way to do so than by experiencing the best food a locality has to offer.

In Mexico City, Blanco Castelar is one to not miss out on.

Blanco Castelar is located at Casa Domit on Emilio Castelar Street. It is a Californian-style building designed by architect Shafick Kaim in 1939.

A taste of Mexico and beyond, this restaurant is a gastronomic jewel that prides itself on its Mexican-European fusion cuisine.

Blanco Castelar presents a sizeable menu that I’ve only been able to scratch the surface of. My favorites however were their Wagyu Aguachile, Punta Mita, and Lemon Surprise.

Blanco Castelar’s Wagyu Aguachile with red serranos, ginger, sesame seeds, bao bread
Blanco Castelar’s Punta Mita. Octopus shaved with a mild paprika, macha and olive oil dressing
Blanco Castelar’s Steak & Frites. Rib eye, french fries, and chipotle sweet smoked bordelaise
Blanco Castelar’s Lemon Surprise. A combination between sweet and sour

Blanco Castelar is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 13:00 to 02:00, and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
