The McDonald’s Christmas Light Magic reflects 3 things Filipinos love about Christmas

McDonald’s Philippines is ringing in the holiday season with dazzling Christmas light displays that promise a better and brighter Christmas this year. On November 29, 2023, INQUIRER.net livestreamed the official launch of the light display, which was hosted by JC Tevez.

The grand launch was livestreamed at McDonald’s McKinley West. The launch event was attended by distinguished guests such as McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO Kenneth S. Yang and his wife, Cindy Yang, Coca-Cola Philippines President and Vice President for Franchise East Region for Asia South Pacific Operating Unit Tony Del Rosario, Megaworld COO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, McDonald’s Philippines Local Store Marketing Director Fidel Balbieran, Taguig Councilor Jomil Cerna, and Barangay Captain of Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Jorge Bocobo. And of course, Ronald McDonald’s friends were also at the event, like Birdie the Early Bird, Hamburglar, and Grimace.

McDonald’s McKinley West

The McDonald’s McKinley West branch was decorated from floor to ceiling with colorful lights and winter-themed decor, including the drive-thru area. McDonald’s started their Christmas light tradition in 2021 when they adorned their drive-thru stores with thousands of Christmas lights to give customers a festive but safe place to appreciate the holiday vibe.

In an interview with McDonald’s Philippines’ Product Manager, Mika Miravite-Aure, we get more insight into the concepts of this year’s Christmas Light Magic and what else McDonald’s has in store for customers this holiday season. Aure mentioned that the three participating McDonald’s stores represent three different aspects of Christmas that Filipinos often look forward to. McDonald’s McKinley West, where the livestream took place, has the “Icy Wonderland” theme. While we don’t experience snow here in the Philippines, we Filipinos can still experience a White Christmas with their snow-themed decorations and their yummy, ice-cold treats like McFlurry, Sundaes, and Coke McFloat. Over in the north, McDonald’s Capital Town in Pampanga is also decked out to celebrate the holiday season with a “Happyland” theme, a shout-out to the kids looking forward to a magical Christmas. In the south, McDonald’s Southwoods in Binan, Laguna is also ready for Christmas with a “Paskong Pinoy” theme dedicated to Filipinos and how we celebrate Christmas as the season for reunions and sharing love and happiness.

Aure also said that aside from the dazzling light displays, McDonald’s also has a lot in store for everyone for the Christmas season. Of course, the season of giving and sharing wouldn’t be complete without some good food. For the holiday season, McDonald’s has launched two limited-time flavors of the crowd-favorite Oreo McFlurry – Strawberry Oreo McFlurry and Matcha Oreo McFlurry.

McDonald’s is also encouraging everyone to celebrate the season of sharing and reunions with their Chicken McDo McShare Box (now juicier and crispier!) for delicious meals to bring to your get-togethers with loved ones. In addition to delicious food, they are also offering Coca-Cola color-changing cups. The Coca-Cola cups come in six vibrant colors and are available for a limited time at any McDonald’s store via front counter, drive-thru, or McDelivery.

McDonald’s Philippines is also celebrating the holiday season by giving back to the community with a donation drive. They’ll be donating McDonald’s meals, Happy Meal toys for kids, as well as 1.5 million Happy Meal books and toys through their partner charitable organization, Ronald McDonald House Charities, to be distributed to their partner communities.

If you missed the grand launch of the light displays, don’t worry! You can visit any of the three participating branches any day to see the lights from 6 PM to 12 midnight. The light displays will be around daily until January 2, 2024.

As we ring in the holiday season, McDonald’s Philippines invites everyone to share and celebrate love and happiness by visiting their stores or ordering via the McDelivery PH app or their website. McDonald’s aims to make your Christmas with loved ones bright and memorable with special holiday food offers, promos, and their dazzling Christmas Light Magic. Follow McDonald’s Philippines on Facebook and Instagram and share your experience with the light show using the hashtag #McDoShareTheLight!
