Director Quark Henares is a proud resident of his new solo flat. Characterized by dimly lit interiors and gray brick walls, his apartment is a far cry from his cheery and playful personality. His space, which has a Yasmin Sison painting and movie posters hung on the wall, is perfect for slow Sundays and blasting music.
Around the room lie bits and pieces of personality that give one a glimpse into Quark’s world—from the scattered film books, signed DVDs, and a sculpture of a blood-stained character. All of which belie the desire of the director to stay behind the scenes. “I’m not really an outdoorsy guy. I’d rather stay at home,” he shares.
The director just finished a script for an upcoming horror movie, but his choice of film doesn’t reflect in his home base either. If he were to produce a video set at his place, it would most likely revolve around two lovers’ tale of separation, atop dark hues and romantic tones. “I know [filming here] will eventually happen. I’m resisting it!” Quark shares.
Even more stacks of movies and records can be seen lining his walls—a testament to Quark’s passion and lifestyle, claiming that he’s the type who would rather read or stay home.
