Local Editor Turned Jewelry Designer Debuts Nature-Inspired Collection

Local accessories brand Cova is hitting its stride since its debut in 2014. The brainchild of former magazine editor and current fashion and beauty columnist for the Philippine Daily Inquirer Mel Cuevas, Cova is all about an abstract and simple aesthetic that offer lots of possibilities. “My pieces are easy and can be worn alone or layered with other pieces from the line. In a way, there is sense of fun and playfulness because you can pile it on with jewelry you already own,” she says.

This theme continues on with the new collection, “Sacred Geometry,”  that features rings, pins, and earrings that take on asymmetrical shapes to showcase white sapphires and pearls.

The collection doesn’t go over the top with pieces like white gold earrings, thin yellow gold cuffs, delicate dress pins as it’s all about attention to detail for the new collection. Mel explains that she takes cue from nature , “You don’t really see straight, even lines in nature, so I followed that principle in creating these new pieces, which for me are more natural and beautiful.”
