In celebration of Filipino American History Month, Mitchell’s Ice Cream and Señor Sisig have joined forces to create a unique frozen treat known as the “Filipino Mangonada.” This dessert will be exclusively available at both establishments’ San Francisco locations starting Oct.1 and throughout the month.
The Filipino Mangonada ice cream features fresh Philippine mangoes swirled with a savory chamoy sauce, offering a twist to the classic mango ice cream that Mitchell’s introduced to the Bay Area in the 1960s. For those seeking an extra kick, you can enhance it with a Tajin rim and additional chamoy sauce, exclusively at Señor Sisig outlets.
To celebrate the launch of this creation, Mitchell’s Ice Cream will host a launch party on Oct. 8 from 12 noon to 4 p.m., complete with a Señor Sisig food truck parked outside for those looking to pair their dessert with a savory meal.
Beyond just satisfying sweet cravings, this partnership holds a philanthropic purpose. Five percent of the proceeds from the collaboration will be donated to a charitable organization benefiting residents in Iloilo City, Philippines.
Established in 1953, Mitchell’s Ice Cream has been a cherished San Francisco landmark, known for introducing tropical ice cream flavors to the area. It remains a family business committed to producing premium ice cream with top-notch ingredients.
Señor Sisig, a fusion restaurant that started as a food truck in 2010, has become famous for its Filipino-Mexican cuisine, particularly its sisig-filled tacos and burritos. The collaboration with Mitchell’s Ice Cream marks another step in its culinary journey.
