“Minimum health standards such as strict social distancing, wearing of face masks, presence of sanitation stations, taking of body temperature and provision of vitamins must always be observed in work and public places,” says Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez in a DTI press release. This will be the new set of health protocols that will be implemented for all businesses after the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) has been lifted.
Lopez adds that the following measures will be the new standard practices that essential businesses currently operating should apply:
- Conducting COVID-19 tests for employees
- Providing safe and accessible accommodation for employees living far from work and shuttle services for those who live near
- Work-from-home opportunities for non-essential workers
- Healthcare insurance for employees and businesses
These measures will also be implemented in other businesses post-ECQ, alongside a new set of guidelines in collaboration with the Department of Health and Department of Labor and Employment.
Lopez also commended manufacturing companies that enforced safety measures to minimize health risks and protect employees while continuing to provide service to Filipinos. Companies like Nestlé Philippines, San Miguel Corporation, Century Pacific Food Inc. and CDO Foodsphere Inc. are some of those that have shown social responsibility and compassion during this time.
Lopez also encouraged maintaining delivery services and supporting the rising demand for businesses to venture into e-commerce. These innovations will benefit businesses in the long run, providing an additional platform for consumers as well as supplementary income for businesses.
