Manila Restaurant Week is happening soon. Here’s what to expect

Manila City mayor Francisco Domagoso launched the citywide Manila Restaurant Week, happening Sept. 20 to 27. The event aims to boost the sales and earnings of over 60 participating local businesses in the city. Minimum health standards must still be observed.

Some of the participants include Mesa, The Aristocrat Restaurant, Sangkap, Cabalen, Ilustrado and Ang Bistro sa Remedios as well as The Manila Hotel and Diamond Hotel.

“It’s time to dream again. Let’s help businesses to spur employment. The government should help. What we want is to find solutions for businesses to survive, if they survive we can protect employment,” Domagoso says.

The campaign is timed with the city under general community quarantine, which means restaurants can operate at 50 percent capacity, while delivery services run for 24 hours. Each local business will offer prix-fixe breakfast, lunch and/or dinner at affordable rates. Domagoso is urging city residents to patronize carinderias, fast food chains and restaurants.

“It is true there is danger, but we should not live in fear. The establishments [and] the people already know how deadly this virus is. We have learned our lesson for so many months already and now, we know how to adapt,” he adds.
