Adidas continues to push for sustainable products

Over the past few years, Adidas has released high-performance products in an effort to tackle product waste. Designed by Stella McCartney, their latest piece called the “Infinite Hoodie” is made of garment waste, 60 percent NuCyclm fibre, and 40 percent organic cotton taken from landfills. It’s the world’s first ever recyclable hoodie.
The brand’s new apparel is constructed with mass-produced garments that repurposes old cotton into new materials. According to collaborator EVRNU, because of the product’s sustainable engineering, the hoodie is fully recyclable and can be remade into new-high performance apparel.
“By creating a truly open approach to solving the problem of textile waste, we can help empower the industry at large to bring more sustainable practices into reality. With Adidas by Stella McCartney, we’re creating high performance products that also safeguard the future of the planet,” said Stella McCartney in an interview.
Biofabric Tennis Dress
Another design that Adidas released is the Biofabric Tennis Dress in partnership with Bolt threads—a company that specializes in bioengineered sustainable materials and fibers. The tennis dress is built from cellulose blended yearn and microsilk material, a protein based material made using renewable ingredients like sugar, water, and yeast.
Both garments are making serious efforts to create environmentally sustainable high-performance products. Sadly, only 50 Infinite Hoodies have been manufactured to date but production could increase given the advancements that Adidas is keen on making in the sustainability sector.
