Alex Eala won her first ever women’s professional match against 25-year-old Nadia Echeverria in the W15 Monastir tournament in Tunisia on Thursday, Mar. 5.

The 14-year-old forced a deciding set and eventually won her first professional match by default (1-6, 7-6, 3-2) to advance to the second round of the tournament. Unfortunately, she lost to Switzerland’s Nina Stadler in a three-set thriller (4-6, 7-6, 7-5) earlier today.

Despite exiting the tournament in the second round, the Rafael Nadal Academy scholar will see more action in the juniors and senior tournaments to rack up more points in the professional field. She’s also proven that she’s a star in the making after winning the Australian Open Juniors doubles tournament and rising to No. 4 in the juniors world ranking last February.
