PONY taps Don’t Blame The Kids for an unprecedented sneaker collab

Yup, no need to do a double take, because this collab is real. International brands are taking notice of what’s happening in the South East Asia region, and PONY’s step to tap Philippine streetwear brand Don’t Blame The Kids (DBTK) is a step into exciting territory for both local brands and international brands.

“Our collaboration with PONY will not only allow us to showcase Filipino ingenuity and creativity on an international scale, but at the same time show the world, especially the youth, how dreams can materialize if you work hard for them”, says Vince Javier, co-founder and creative director behind Don’t Blame The Kids.

Vince and his big brother Emil founded the brand five years ago and they have been one of the more hardworking brands in the scene for the last couple of years. Aside from their clothing release, Don’t Blame The Kids have alsohosted events in their Quezon City shop as well as producing lifestyle content as well, with their music video featuring Astrokidd and their “Talkin’ With The Mob” series on their website.

It’s this authentic, homegrown grit that caught PONY’s attention earlier this year, and a few months later, an unprecedented collaboration is born in the form of two sneaker collaborations.

The City Wings is composed of premium black textured leather and suede uppers, a white leather Pony chevron, and classic gum sole bottoms. Each heel tab features a tonal embossed PONY or DBTK logo on either side.

The Shooter is designed with buttery suede leather in deep black and a subtle perforated chevron pattern. One interesting feature in the heel tabs is the use of the classic DBTK character logo–a throwback to the brand’s earlier days.

All collaboration pairs come in an exclusive PONY x DBTK shoebox showcasing the New York and Manila cityscapes— an homage to the brands’ birthplace.
