A triathlon is a multidiscipline endurance race that challenges participants to complete a course where they must swim, bike and run, all in the same day.

A 1.5-km swim at Dungaree Beach, followed by a 40-km bike ride and finishing with 10-km run—such was the challenge set for the participants of 2012 KSwiss ITU Subic International Triathlon.  Presented by Century Tuna, it was held at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

The race, now on its 19th edition, is one of the major events of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP). It drew more than 800 athletes, from professionals to amateurs, juniors to seniors.

Many well-known personalities joined top Philippine national team members Kim Mangrobang, Nico Huellgas and over 40 foreign participants. Among them were Rep. Gilbert Remulla, Eric Buhain, Matteo Guidacelli and “Kuya” Kim Atienza, who was doing his first triathlon.
