Makoto Shinkai is working mad hard for his new project

Is it the “Weathering With You” follow-up we’ve been waiting for? Let’s see. 

After the release of his last film, the famed animator teased us with a new project a couple of months ago, explaining how he’s unsure of handling a three-year release schedule. But his recent tweet this week says otherwise.

“My vision is more blurred and I found it harder than [when I did in] the previous work,” tweets Makoto. He says he’s been shutting himself in his room, so he can make storyboards for his latest project. It’s unconfirmed if it’s a new feature length or a short film. 

Well, whatever Makoto is working on, it will definitely sate our passion for his art. In recent years, Makoto has released commercials, short films, music videos and full-length features. Whatever their format, his releases have one distinct factor going for them: they always have heart.
