Want to be a CCP art curator? Here’s a workshop for you - SCOUT

OCTOBER 27, 2022

There are a lot of workshops for young artists these days. But what about platforms for aspiring art curators?

Who doesn’t want to live their campy Jake Gyllenhall “Velvet Buzzsaw” fantasies? Or kill the notion of art critics as mere wine-snipping snobs? If one of these dreams fits your current fantasies, CCP has a new workshop for you.

From Nov. 23 to 27, five budding curators and art critics can join the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ (CCP) Visual Arts and Museum Division’s “21AM Curatorial Workshop.” It’s  in partnership with TAO Inc. (Tao Management Corporation) as part of larger productions for the upcoming “21AM,” a new contemporary art museum CCP is currently building.

21AM envisions itself as a versatile art space that’s “online, everywhere and within art-as-system.” Facilitated by art critic and TAO, Inc. founder Marian Pastor Roces, the workshop will “focus on curation of contemporary art” and will be “augmented by an in-depth introduction to traditional Philippine art and museology.”

The workshop is targeted towards Filipino curators below 40, with relevant curatorial experience and body of work that shows art’s responsibility to local culture.

To join, fill out their application form, prepare a CV and motivation statement and submit on or before Nov. 9 to [email protected]. Head on to their site for more deets.
