Behold, Timothée Chalamet takes a bath in this ‘The French Dispatch’ clip

It’s here, it’s finally here! If you’ve been watching Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch” trailer for the nth time since its February 2020 drop, you finally have new material to memorize. Here it is: the first clip from the film, featuring, of course, Timothée Chalamet in a bathtub. (Cue Film Twitter’s joyous cries.)

Following its recent Cannes premiere and the resulting nine-minute standing ovation, the first clip shown to the non-Cannes film-going public sees journalist Lucinda Krementz (played by Frances McDormand) exchanging lines of deadpan banter with student revolutionary Zeffirelli (Timothée Chalamet). The black-and-white scene features Zeffirelli sitting in a tub mid-bath while writing a so-called “manifesto,” leading Lucinda to proofread his work.

The release of “The French Dispatch” has been a long time coming after several pandemic-related delays. Coined as a “love letter to journalism,” Wes Anderson’s film centers on the ins and outs of an American newspaper located in a fictional 20th-century French city, where they decide to publish a collection of stories and memoirs revolving around its people.

While its local release date is still up in the air, here are a couple of Wes Anderson-esque films to fill your eccentric yet symmetrical cinematic void.
