The folks at high fashion brand Loewe have solidified their Studio Ghibli stan label yet again. After opening 2021 with a fun, childlike “My Neighbor Totoro” release, this time they’re blessing fans with a charming collection “Spirited Away” fans can strut their stuff in as they enter 2022.
On Jan. 5 via Instagram, Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson unveiled some pages of the catalog, which are eccentric snaps by fashion photographer Juergen Teller. For this collection, the Spanish luxury house—which is big on craftsmanship—decided to turn the 20-year-old Hayao Miyazaki fantasy cult classic into a whimsical collection of its own, featuring pieces from cold weather essentials to vibrant accessories. Prep your closets, as warm blankets, hand-knitted sweaters, Hammock bags, oversized shirts, and even slides are getting Chihiro-, Yubaba-, and No-Face-approved.
“I love how [Studio] Ghibli has been able to achieve this incredible kind of emotional craft and apply it to an image,” says Anderson in a Vogue interview. “‘Spirited Away’ is one of my all-time favorites.”
“Spirited Away” follows Chihiro, a 10-year-old girl who stumbles upon an abandoned amusement park—which turns out to be a lair of supernatural beings. Once her parents undergo a mysterious transformation, she is forced to work for their freedom.
Loewe’s “Spirited Away” capsule collection will be up for grabs starting Jan. 7, 2022. (And by the way, my door is still open for late Christmas gifts—the No-Face leather bag, to be specific.)
