Summer is always a fun time especially when you have a couple of trips planned. We’re just as bummed with Boracay closing for a few months, but while we wait and hope for the best, we have another thing on our minds: waterparks.
A waterpark is essentially an amusement park filled with Olympic-sized swimming pools, crazy slides, splash pads, lazy rivers, and more recently, giant inflatables. Bathing under the sun with a beachfront view is tempting, but we’re putting adrenaline and fun in the spotlight with these waterparks that we found.
The Inflatable Island
Olongapo, Zambales
0917-8352665
A three-hour drive north of Manila will get you to this inflatable waterpark in Subic, Zambales. We could already see the giant unicorn inflatables 10 minutes before we reached our destination. From a glance, the Inflatable Island looks like a water paradise built for kids, but as it turns out adults can have just as much fun (perhaps even more).
Apart from being an Instagram-worthy resort, Inflatable Island doesn’t skimp on fun activities, either. Think American Ninja Warrior but with unicorn inflatables in pastel colors. You’ll get your body working by jumping and swimming from one station to the next. Take a breather in their Bali lounge while sipping cocktails, accompanied by a huge inflatable cinema for an outdoor film viewing experience.
Palawan Waterpark
Astoria Palawan, Kilometer 62
North National Highway, Brgy. San Rafael
Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
(048) 687-1111
reservations@astoriapalawan.com
Being Puerto Princesa’s first and only waterpark, this resort combines culture and fun into a 10-hectare space. Part of Palawan Waterpark is called Marine Sanctuary, where you’ll find sculptures of the town’s endemic fauna. They also have a station called Batak Misters, colorful, towering structures that take inspiration from one of the last surviving indigenous groups in the Philippines—the Batak Tribe of northeastern Palawan.
Aqua Planet
Clark Freeport Zone, Mabalacat, Pampanga
(045) 499-8277
Pampanga is shaping up to be one of the best destinations this summer. Aqua Planet just opened last February at Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. The waterpark boasts 38 water slides and attractions, including a rainbow mat racing slide that will get your competitiveness up.
Club Balai Isabel Aqua Park
Club Balai Isabel, Fairways Dr.
Talisay, Batangas
(02) 895-7230
This is another inflatable waterpark but this time it’s located in the south. You can get in in two ways: first by booking a day tour, and second by checking in at Club Balai Isabel. The waterpark has got long slides, a human launcher (a favorite of adrenaline junkies and thrill-seekers), and a great view of Taal Lake.
