The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced that the Luzon grid will be under yellow alert today, Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This may be caused by the limited available capacity of the grid. As of Jul. 5, the Luzon grid has an available capacity of 11,203MW, versus the peak demand of 10,619MW, the Inquirer reports.
More details will be announced within the day.
Rotational blackouts and power interruptions have become more common in the past few months, alongside water shortages.
While this is a reminder to be prepared for emergencies, this should also be a call to conserve the energy and resources we have.
