5 events where you can get all kinds of beer this Oktoberfest

It’s that time of the year again when we (yes, me), beer-enthusiasts can shamelessly celebrate a festival of our favorite drink. But before we let ourselves splurge on a pint (or more) of beer, let’s get to know some facts about Oktoberfest.

What is now a 16-day celebration of unlimited beer in Munich, Germany, started more than 200 years ago as a wedding celebration. The original ceremony was done to honor the marriage of Prince Ludwig from Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on Oct. 12, 1810. It was a festival of drinking, feasting, and horse races that was a recurring celebration then, and eventually became an annual event.

In Germany, they celebrate the festival through public drinking and feasting with built-up tents listening to traditional Bavarian music along with a selection of fine Munich breweries.

With beer as a regular part of our celebrations, it’s no surprise that we’ve also learned to adopt this annual tradition. To celebrate this year’s Oktoberfest, here is a round-up of some places where you can party:
