From acting to DIY crafts: these creative online workshops will bring out your inner artist

Being an artist stuck in a creative rut because of the enhanced community quarantine is difficult, especially since going out to find inspiration is close to impossible. Thankfully, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) is among those providing outlets for everyone—both artists and non-artists—to channel their creativity.

Covering a wide variety of topics which range from acting to do-it-yourself (DIY) crafts, PETA launched their series of online workshops titled Let’s Get Creative last Mar. 20.

It began with a class on creative movement taught by actor, director, choreographer and PETA’s senior artist teacher Carlon Matobato and was followed by workshops on music and acting by known personalities in the respective fields, including “Rak of Aegis” cast members Gold and Vince Lim as well as actor and director Ian Segarra.

Last Apr. 13, actor and director Dudz Teraña conducted a workshop on creating a character through makeup. Following up with a very timely topic afterward, theater practitioner and filmmaker Avic Ilagan will be teaching viewers how to make handmade soap this Apr. 15.

Previously conducting lessons on Mar. 30 about making an origami bookmark from old magazines and a DIY musical instrument for children, actor and designer John Moran will be returning on Apr. 17 with another DIY arts and crafts session.

The weekly Let’s Get Creative classes take place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 3 p.m. on PETA’s official Facebook page. The videos for each lesson are also posted after the live broadcasts for those who want a recap of the sessions.
