Don’t worry if you haven’t paid your Social Security System (SSS) contribution yet, because the deadline has been extended to June 30.
In a recent advisory from the government-owned and/or controlled corporation (GOCC), it was announced that regular employers get more time to pay for contributions that fall within the months of February, March and April 2020.
Meanwhile, household employers, voluntary, self-employed and non-working spouse members can also pay for their contributions within the first quarter of 2020 up to the same date.
This is still in line with SSS’ efforts to provide aid during the COVID-19 pandemic, which included a prior announcement on June 2 about the extension of contribution payments to June 15. After this new extension, SSS said that they will then be following the regular payment schedule.
Earlier on June 9, the GOCC also said that its contributing members who lost their jobs—whether due to COVID-19 or not—may receive up to P20,000 in cash benefit. Due to its programs providing aid to displaced workers, it was also reported by the Bureau of the Treasury that SSS received the biggest amount of subsidies among all GOCCS back in April.
