Here’s a weird confession from me: I love my milk tea and I love my cake, but I used to think there was no way for me to enjoy both of them in one meal. There is only so much sweetness I can handle, and that the milk tea and cake combo would be too much for my taste buds.
That was before Yi Fang teamed up with Grand Castella for a special bundle which eventually changed my mind about having this combo for a midday snack.
The milk tea shop, known for purely fresh and all-natural ingredients, recently added a new drink to their menu: The Pudding Tea Latte. Their new flavor is a classic black tea latte, topped with creamy caramel pudding.
To celebrate their new flavor, they partnered with Grand Castella, a bakery that has earned a loyal following thanks to their fluffy sponge cakes (called castella cakes) and cheesecakes. Recently, Grand Castella rolled out their Minibox series, which lets you enjoy two flavors in one cake.
The two Taiwanese food companies came up with a special, limited edition bundle: By purchasing two large drinks from Yi Fang, you can get a Grand Castella Minibox at a discounted price.
One of the cake combinations you can get is an original and cheese minibox, priced at P135. Their original cakes are equal parts tangy and sweet with a hint of vanilla. Their cheese-flavored cakes, meanwhile, have cheddar cheese layers oozing at the side of the cake.
Another combination available is their cheese and ube minibox, priced at P155. Their sponge cake takes cues from the ube cheese pandesal trend, combining the sweet and starchy flavor of the beloved tuber with layers of cheddar cheese.
