CCP Arthouse Cinema is streaming these free films for National Indigenous People’s Month

The Cultural Center of the Philippines’ (CCP) Arthouse Cinema is the latest organization to adapt online screenings. The CCP Media and Arts Division announced that CCP Arthouse Cinema will be streaming Cinemalaya and Gawad Alternatibo film entries for free.

For October, they’ll be celebrating National Indigenous People’s Month by streaming two award-winning Cinemalaya films: Ida Anita del Mundo’s “K’na, The Dreamweaver” and Shaira Advincula’s “Tembong.” They’ll also be streaming Jerrold Tarog’s “Faculty.”

The 2014 Cinemalaya award-winning film “K’na, the Dreamweaver” tells the story of a young Tboli woman’s journey of becoming a dreamweaver and her chance at uniting two opposing clans at the cost of love. “Tembong” is a 2018 short film about a Tboli man who weaves tnalak—South Cotabato’s traditional cloth that’s usually made by women—and discovers his true identity. “Tembong” was awarded Cinemalaya’s special jury prize in 2019.

Interested movie-goers can catch these online screenings starting this Friday at 3 p.m. The films will be available for streaming for 48 hours.
