These bath essentials for a meaningful cause will shower you with good vibes

Because of our country’s humid climate, we Filipinos have developed a fondness for bathing. It’s customary to shower every time we come home from work or school, especially if we had to commute. Hygiene has always been a big deal, more so now that we’re in a health crisis. In fact, market research shows that bath and shower products were among the top personal care items deemed essential by local consumers this year due to the pandemic.

One way to put this demand for bath and shower essentials to our economy’s best advantage is by purchasing these products from local and small businesses. To further the good cause, there are also several brands selling these items to help communities in need. Here are some of them:

Shampoo and conditioner bars for typhoon relief

Banyuhay Skin Food makes soap, shampoo and conditioner bars from organic materials such as plant-derived surfactants and natural carrier oils. Thanks to their natural ingredients, these handcrafted products are free of sulfates, parabens and formaldehyde. The shampoo and conditioner bundle costs P289, and can last from six to eight weeks.

To help families affected by the recent typhoons that ravaged the country, Banyuhay Skin Food is donating all proceeds from products made until Nov. 20, through Ambagan PH.

Since its establishment in 2018, local brand Saipo has made it a point to deliver high-quality yet eco-friendly bath products. This includes a range of handmade soaps and body scrubs—all at an affordable price.

Until Nov. 21, the brand will be donating its product sales to Kaya Natin Movement’s relief drive Bangon Luzon for the benefit of the recent typhoons’ victims.

Shampoo bar for animal shelter aid

A heartwarming tale lies behind this new shampoo bar from Beach Born. Named Buster Bar, this product was inspired by its namesake Buster who was rescued during the Taal volcano eruption and is now housed at the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) shelter. As added homage to this furbaby, Buster Bar is designed with a unique paw print stamp.

To help provide shelter and care for animals like Buster, all sales made from this gentle shampoo bar will be donated to PAWS, The Animal Kingdom Foundation and the San Mateo Pound.
