Holy Week is usually a time of deep, contemplative reflection—and a well-deserved break. This also means that we have to plan our schedules ahead of time if we don’t want to get inconvenienced by all the closures.
Here’s a list of mall and bank operating hours so you can plan your week accordingly.
What’s open on Maundy Thursday
If you’re planning on staying in the city this Holy Week, your options are a little slim. Major malls (like the likes of SM and Ayala) are closed during this time—with a few exceptions.
A few malls that are open during Maundy Thursdays in Metro Manila are SM by the Bay (not to be confused with Mall of Asia), The Shops at Serendra, Newport Mall, Fisher Mall, and select Robinsons Malls. For those outside of Metro Manila, SM Baguio, SM Puerto Princesa, Ayala Malls Serin, Solenad, and Harbor Point are also open.
SM by the Bay will be operating their regular mall hours, while SM Baguio will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and SM Puerto Princesa will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fisher Mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Newport Mall will open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Shops at Serendra will be open on Maundy Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Ayala Malls Serin will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., while Solenad will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Harbor Point from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For Robinsons Malls, select malls will be open on Maundy Thursday with varying opening hours. You can check the full list here.
What’s open on Good Friday
We can expect a similar schedule for Good Friday, with the exception of SM Puerto Princesa which is closed on this day. SM by the Bay will continue operating its regular mall hours, and SM Baguio will still operate from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Ayala Malls Serin will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Solenad will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Harbor Point will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Similarly, Fisher Mall will stick to its 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. schedule, as well.
Robinsons Antipolo (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.), La Union (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.), Tagaytay (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), and Luisita(10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) will be also open.
Other malls like Power Plant Malls, Estancia Mall, Shangri-La Plaza, Eastwood City, Festival Mall, and Greenhills Mall are closed on both days.
How about banks?
BDO announced that they will be closed for the week of Holy Week. Other banks like Unionbank and PSBank have similarly announced closures as of writing.
For Unionbank, the Alabang Town Center and Alabang Country Club branches will reopen on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. respectively on Easter Sunday.
