When reading a book, your focus depends on your atmosphere. Bookworms can read anywhere but a cozy reading nook, complete with a giant shelf, can enhance that experience. Sometimes they don’t even notice that they’ve already finished five chapters or even the whole book.
As an avid reader, I find myself often looking at different nooks from Architectural Digest to Instagram feeds. Gabs Gibbs found an old-timey one during her recent trip to Australia and it’s the kind of place you want to stay in for hours. Laureen Uy also looked comfortable while reading with a view of the sea just outside her door.
If you want to create your own, here are some items to pull it off inspired by the rusticity and freshness of Gabs and Laureen’s reading spaces.
Stretch out and get comfortable while reading on the Ethan Allen Hartwell Leather Sofa. Located at 139 Pioneer corner Reliance Street, Mandaluyong City.
If your space is limited and a sofa is out of the question, go for West Elm’s Axel Leather Armchair. This will still give the same rustic feel with its orange-brown hue. Available at Estancia Mall.
Add color to your seats with The Olive Tree’s Klaus Throw Pillows which is reminiscent of sea life. Available online.
Keep your book collection in place in this modern-looking Como Wall System from BoConcept. It’s big enough to fit multiple books and its thin design can squeeze into any corner. Available at EDSA Shangri-la Plaza.
Put your coffee or tea while reading on this oak CPH20 table from HAY. You can also place the book you’re reading on top so you won’t misplace it. Available at Design Story, Uptown Mall BGC.
The most important part of a reading nook: lighting. Pottery Barn’s Downlight Floor Lamp with Shade is the ideal piece you need for nighttime reading. Available at Estancia Mall.
