THE “Mothers for Others” kiddie fashion show raised P2.5 million to fund the surgery of young heart patients.

An initiative of the advisory board of the Bantay Bata, it aims to be a yearly event with the support of companies, individuals and prominent families.

Prateek Kumar, general manager of Dusit Thani Manila, offered the organizers his hotel as venue for its fundraiser.

In his welcome speech, he explained that philanthropy has been a tradition of the hotel’s founder and honorary chair Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, who is also dubbed  the mother of Thai hospitality.

Kumar underscored, “We at Dusit International believe that we must look after the children today so that they can look after the world tomorrow. Hence, we do all we can to help charities focused on children, such as Operation Smile, the underprivileged and abused children of Laura Vicuna and now Bantay Bata.”

Thirteen designers created the children’s wear, most of which were froufrou numbers in rich fabrics.

The event was well attended by a well-heeled crowd who enjoyed the hotel’s Family Crossover Brunch of international cuisine.  The tables had artful centerpieces by Robert Blancaflor.
