With its pointy ears, sharp teeth, and mischievous smile, Labubu heals everyone’s inner child, one mystery box at a time
Everyone, celebrities included, is gushing over these cute smiling monsters that either hang on bags or are displayed on shelves. With its pointy ears, sharp teeth, and mischievous smile, Labubu heals everyone’s inner child, one mystery box at a time.
Labubu started as a fictional female elf designed by Hong Kong-born, Belgium-based artist Kasing Lung when he published a Nordic mythology-inspired story series “The Monsters” in 2015. Other monsters from the series—Zimomo, Tycoco, Spooky, and Pato—are also sold as collectibles by Chinese blind box maker Pop Mart in 2023. Yet, Labubu seems to be the crowd favorite.
The eccentric dolls gained popularity due to BlackPink’s Lisa, styling the dolls as bag charms and eventually, boasting her full-sized Labubus. Since then, famous Filipino personalities hopped on the Labubu frenzy.
With the launch of the first official Pop Mart pop-up store in the Philippines, get inspiration from these famous personalities to start your own whimsical Labubu collection.
