5 unforgettable plays by Faker, the Unkillable Demon King

The undisputed GOAT of esports has done it again

Faker is indeed him. After a challenging season plagued by DDoS attacks and performance woes that almost saw T1 missing out on the world’s stage, they won the League of Legends World Championship for the second year in a row. Faker was also crowned finals MVP, further adding to his impressive list of accolades.

As esports’ undisputed greatest of all time, Faker’s career as a professional has been unparalleled across different games and fields.

No one has yet to achieve the same level of success he’s met: winning five world championships and 10 domestic titles over a decade. Not to mention, his spotless record against the entire Chinese region. His victory this year only cements this fact.

In honor of League of Legends’s Unkillable Demon King, here are some iconic Faker plays over the years.

“Form is temporary, Faker is forever”

Form is temporary, FAKER is forever

The iconic “Form is temporary, Faker is forever” line came from this Lissandra play. In Game 2 of the MSI finals, RNG had taken down both Oner and Zeus and was well on their way to also taking down Baron to cement the win.

Clutch as ever, Faker positioned just shy of the pit and landed a four-man Ring of Frost, nearly eliminating the entire RNG team.

“Faker’s shockwave will find them all”

This iconic play was crucial as it was a last-ditch attempt to turn the game back in SKT’s favor as EDG was massively in the lead. Like a perfectly harmonized string quartet, the SKT players were in perfect harmony and decimated the enemy team.

“Faker is not of this earth”

In Game 4 of this year’s championship and on the verge of defeat, Faker struggled throughout the entire match. But in true Unkillable Demon King fashion, he proved his ability to step up when it matters most and led a play that would eventually turn the tides and bring the series to a tie.

“Too damn clean”

Even Faker makes mistakes, but he always learns from them. Back in 2017 Worlds, Samsung Galaxy’s Ruler managed to outplay Faker. Fast forward to the 2023 World Championship against the same player, Faker finally managed to avenge his defeat.

“Once again when you need someone, when you need anyone to stand up and show just what this game is all about, it’s Faker”

This year’s Worlds was truly filled with amazing plays and highlights, but Faker’s Galio re-engage play for the Ace is one for the books. Game 5 was at a stalemate for a while, with both teams not giving any leeway.

As expected, Faker rose up to turn it in T1’s favor. Although they lost Gumayusi and Keria in the initial brawl against the BLG members, Faker decided to re-engage in the mid-lane, winning them the clash and eventually the game.
