Ely Buendia releases second solo album ‘Method Adaptor’

Waves of nostalgia accompanied by the Eraserheads frontman’s piercing vocals will hit anyone listening to this project

From an Eraserheads reunion during the UAAP Season 87 opening ceremony to an ongoing Huling El Bimbo World Tour, the year has been quite busy for Ely Buendia. And though some may say he’s operating way past his time, OPMs voice for the ’90s is still kicking it with the release of his latest solo album, “Method Adaptor.”

The album includes 10 new original tracks, including his two 2024 singles “Bulaklak Sa Buwan” and “Tagpi-Tagping Piraso.” Noteworthy listens beyond the aforementioned songs include “Faithful Song,” “Deadbeat Creeper,” and “Esprit de Corpse.”

“I think all the songs have something to do with rebelling—be it from the disappointments and hardships of life or from the control that people want to have on your mind. I would say these are the most defiant songs I’ve written so far,” says Buendia in a release.

However, to only highlight these songs is a disservice to Buendia’s first solo album in over two decades. In fact, have a listen for yourself. From shades of Eraserheads mixed with modern production to Buendia’s ageless voice, it wouldn’t matter if you were a hardcore ’90s OPM enthusiast or a new fan—there’s something in the album for every type of listener.

Though, between you and me, “Bulaklak Sa Buwan” is the definite favorite.

“Method Adaptor is finally here. It’s been a labor of love putting this record together, and I would like to thank everyone for all their love and support, from the bottom of my tagpi-tagping heart. And to the fans, sige sige sige lang, stream it til the well runs dry,” writes Buendia in an Instagram post.

Before continuing the ongoing Huling El Bimbo World Tour with a performance at The Arena in Singapore on Nov. 23, Buendia is gearing up for his “Method Adaptor” promotions. Starting this off is his album launch party tonight Nov. 8 at 123 Block, Mandaluyong. It’s not too late to make it.
