This year, in addition to celebrating National Day, Türkiye also commemorated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the Philippines at the Peninsula Manila last October.
The partnership between the two nations began in 1949, with the signing of the Treaty of Friendship. Relations gained new momentum in the 1990s with the opening of embassies in each other’s capitals, and have continued to flourish since. As the two countries celebrate this significant milestone, it is clear that the bond between Türkiye and the Philippines is not just diplomatic, but is rooted in shared values, aspirations, and a mutual commitment to peace and prosperity.
In his message, Türkiye Ambassador Evren Akyol pointed out that both countries share a dedication to democratic values, peace, and stability, as well as a strong belief in resolving conflicts through dialogue and international law.
Moving forward, he believes that there is great potential for enhanced cooperation in key areas such as infrastructure, transportation, energy, and the defense industry. Türkiye is proud to be a strong partner in the Philippines’ defense efforts, supporting the country’s sovereignty.
Additionally, Türkiye takes pride in its role as a key contributor to the peace process in southern Philippines, which serves as a model for peaceful conflict resolution.
